In a bid to enhance the tourist experience in the renowned village of Ghandruk in Kaski, a circular footpath has been constructed, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore this picturesque location. The inauguration of segments 10 and 11 of the footpath, spanning Annapurna Rural Municipality, took place on Thursday.

The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Mr. Kumansingh Gurung, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry, and Environment of Gandaki Province. Mr. Gurung highlighted that the Ministry provided crucial support of Rs. 5 lakh for the construction of this four-kilometer footpath.

The chairman of the Ghandruk Tourism Management Committee, Mr. Vikram Gurung, disclosed that the committee contributed an additional Rs. 150,000 to complete this project. He noted that while the footpath has been inaugurated, further work is planned for its improvement.

Secretary Gurung expressed his belief that this circular footpath would significantly boost tourism in Ghandruk. He commented, "Ghandruk is a village steeped in culture and natural beauty. The newly constructed circular footpath will undoubtedly contribute to the promotion of tourism." He also mentioned the provincial government's commitment to support the construction of footpaths in high Himalayan regions.

Secretary Gurung emphasized the cultural and religious significance of the footpath, which connects two Meshram Barah temples. As the footpath remains incomplete, he pledged support for its expansion in the upcoming year's budget.

Chairman Gurung provided insights into the footpath's route, which commences from Ghandruk bus park and traverses through Panche, Kotgaon, Balache Park, Navri Thev Meshram Barah Mandir, Kochma Plan, Seven hundred Ghandruk Meshram Barah, Nego, Tea Bagan, Gaihri Village, and Lower Villagehurd Bus Park. He expressed plans to seek cooperation from local hoteliers and the government to ensure the complete operation of the footpath.

Gurung further elaborated, "This footpath spans four kilometers, and the first phase of construction has been completed. However, there is still much work to be done. We are exploring government assistance and, with the involvement of local hoteliers, considering inscribing it as well."

Local resident Amrit Gurung anticipated that the footpath's construction would extend tourists' stays, even if it's just for one day. He highlighted the approximately two-kilometer forested section along the footpath, which promises a unique experience for nature enthusiasts.

"The trail is of paramount importance for tourists. It will undoubtedly prolong their stay," said Amrit. "Half of the trail is surrounded by forests, providing opportunities for tourists to spot wildlife such as deer, foxes, and various wild birds, all while enjoying the melodious sounds of nature. In February-Chait, tourists can also relish the sight of laliguras and tea gardens along the path."

This newly constructed circular footpath is poised to offer an enriched experience to tourists visiting the charming village of Ghandruk, combining culture, nature, and adventure.
